The open source world just keeps marching along ... getting better and better while "commercial world" appears to be "slugging it out" while riding a roller coaster - ups and downs (good news/bad news).
Not long ago a fellow TecSIG member shared a link to a newly discovered LMS and asked "competition for Moodle?". I downloaded and installed. Very impressive, but the answer ... maybe ... maybe not.
All depends upon Moodle 2.0 (which has NOT yet been released for production Moodle servers - I downloaded and installed a "beta").
I've been busy (retired doesn't mean one doesn't work!) so haven't had the time to tackle Moodle 2.0 until this morning. First hurdle was to get php 5.2.+ and MySQL upgraded on CentOS 5.3 - not an impossible task, but not for noobie or someone who is into "instant gratification". After having done that, loaded up Moodle 2.0 and
WOW! Repositories and Portfolio's and MORE!
Below are are some screen shots of what's new (not all of what's new ... just a few to tweak your interest).
